Dream Chasing: 8 Lessons I've Learned Since Launching ClosettCandyy

Dreams don't work unless you do.

Eight years ago I had the urge to share my style advice & outfits with the world, so I did. I've always been good with clothes, it's just kind of my thing. But what I didn't know when I launched the ClosettCandyy blog was that it would turn into my dream job.

I’ve been reflecting a lot lately, especially since someone reached out to interview me. I’m really looking forward to sharing the conversation with you all, but until then - I wanted to share 8 lessons I've learned on the journey to making my dreams come true:

Ask Those Closest To You For Support.

Asking is better than expecting. Talking to your friends/family/partner about your dream and asking for their unconditional support is a healthy way to set a mutual understanding for your relationship moving forward.

Write Down Your Why.

Writing this down will keep you in check when you get off course. A bad review, a fight with a loved one, inevitable insecurity - it will all happen, and you will have your values to fall back on to remind you why you started in the first place.

Rearrange Your Priorities.

If you’re going to be starting something new that is going to require your time and attention, you will need to rearrange your priorities to better suit your new schedule. It will take a few tries before you get it right, and that’s okay. You will find your flow.

Be Patient with Yourself.

Success doesn’t happen overnight. Success is consistent, positive efforts put in over time. If you are getting irritated, talk a walk.

If You Don't Know How to Do Something, Google It.

I learn something new every day on Google. How do you think I learned how to build a website?

Work For Free.

How are you going to gain experience and feedback or build a network? Work for free for people who respect you. Trust your gut. Anyone who treats you badly will always be a lesson.

Find Out What Keeps You Sane.

You'll need an outlet from your baby. Mine is boxing.

Learn To Rest.

There are some nights where you will stay up until 6am and nap for for 2 hrs and get up excited to do it all again. There will also be nights and days where you don’t feel like doing a thing. Embrace them both.

There are so many other lessons I've learned. but I'll save those for another time. Do you have anything to add? Share your lessons with us in the comments so we can all learn from each other!
